History
It was in the year of 1880...
Axel Hofstedt started his freight forwarding business in Gothenburg in the year of 1888. At that time he was also doing business in paints, varnishes, moulding sand, and steel plates for shipbuilding.
From the start freight forwarding was the most important part of the business (One of our customers, a well-known Swedish glassworks, has been with us since 1895). In the late 1910's Axel Hofstedt shipped, cleared through Customs and also bottled wines from the south of Europe until government monopoly put a stop to private importation of these precious wines and liquors.
Carl Axel Hofstedt took over the business in the 1920's. Freight forwarding increased and came to dominate the business even more when international trade picked up after the Second World War.

In the 1960's Axel Hofstedt was among the first to make full use of the new opportunities offered by the development of container traffic.
In 1967 we concentrated on arranging transport for others and our trading activities were ended.
Having at first been working purely as freight forwarders by sea we have developed into a company covering the whole spectrum of transportation: by sea, land, and air. Today we are a closely-knit team in a modern company working with modern techniques and closely watching developments in the transport market. At the same time we can still rely on the business contacts created by my father and my grandfather before him. We feel strengthened by tradition when planning for the future.
